Dean Heritage centre
The centre tells the story of the Forest’s unique culture and environment. As well as the museum there is a Victorian cottage, farm animals, woodland walks, adventure playground and café.

Dean Valley Railway
Take a ride on a steam train through the forest between Lydney and Parkend.

Puzzle Wood
This fascinating wood consists of around 14 acres of pre-Roman open cast iron ore mines. Maze-like paths wind through a magical grotto of trailing vines, ferns and wild flowers.

Clearwell Caves
This ancient iron ore mine has nine caverns to explore, blacksmith and ochre workshops and a shop and tearoom.

Hopewell Colliery
Walk through a true Forest of Dean mine, still worked by the Forest Freeminers – see the mine workings, some of which date from the 1820s.

Goodrich Castle
A magnificent red sandstone castle with 12th century keep.

Kingfisher Cruises
A beautiful forty minute cruise along the Wye from Symonds Yat East, with full commentary on points of interest.

Canoes and kayaks can be hired from Symonds Yat East and there are also public launch sites nearby.
